前回、リヴァプールのクラブソング、「You’ll Never Walk Alone.」について記載しましたが、今回はマンチェスター・ユナイテッドとトッテナム・ホットスパーの応援ソングのルーツについて書いていこうと思います！
この2チームの応援ソングはどちらも同じでみなさんも一度は聞いたことある音楽ではないでしょうか。
日本ではヨドバシカメラさんの替え歌で有名ですね！
元々は、1856年のウィリアム・ステッフの「Say,brothers,will you meet us」という曲から始まっており、1861年に「John Brown’s body」というタイトルで南北戦争の北軍の行軍曲として歌われました。
そしてその年の11月にジュリア・ウォード・ハウが作詞をし、「The Battle Hymn of the Republic（リパブリック讃歌）」としてアメリカ合衆国の愛国歌となりました。
「Glory,Glory,○○」のフレーズは、この曲の「Glory, Glory, hallelujah!」を替えたものになります。
しかし、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドの替え歌は複雑なのに対し、トッテナム・ホットスパーの方はかなりシンプルな替え歌になっています。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドは曲を全部替え歌にしているのに対しトッテナム・ホットスパーは主にサビの部分を替えていますね。
元々アメリカの愛国歌からスタートし、イギリスのマンチェスター・ユナイテッドやトッテナムでクラブソングとして歌われているのは面白いですね♪♪
